Glow gives you a few settings that control what customers see when they open the widget and redeem rewards.

These settings are useful if you want a faster redemption flow, want customers to confirm before spending points, or want Glow to try applying a discount code to the cart automatically after redemption.

Open the widget behavior settings

In Glow, go to Settings > Account Settings > Widget.

Scroll to Widget Behavior.

Open the redeem section first

Launch Widget Redeem Section? applies to the Pop Up widget style.

When this is set to Yes, the Pop Up widget opens directly to the redeem section when a customer opens the widget.

This setting does not open a specific Modern widget section from a URL. For the Modern widget, customers open the widget and then choose a section such as Get Rewards, Discounts, History, or Rules.

Skip the redeem confirmation step

Skip Widget Redeem Reward Confirmation applies to the Modern widget style.

When this is set to No, customers see a confirmation step before Glow redeems their points.

When this is set to Yes, Glow skips that confirmation step and redeems the reward more quickly after the customer chooses it.

Product rewards and flexible rewards may still require the customer to choose a product variant or redemption amount before Glow can redeem the reward.

Auto-open Discounts and apply the code after redemption

Auto-open Discounts and Apply Code After Redeem applies to the Modern widget style.

When this is set to Yes, Glow opens the Discounts tab after a successful discount-code reward redemption and tries to apply the new discount code to the customer's Shopify cart.

If the automatic apply step works, the customer can continue shopping with the code already applied to the cart.

If Shopify does not accept the automatic apply request, the customer can still copy the discount code from the Discounts tab and use it manually.

When this setting is No, Glow does not try to apply the code automatically. Customers can still find the code in the widget and copy it.

Recommended setup

For most stores using the Modern widget, start with:

  • Skip Widget Redeem Reward Confirmation: No

  • Auto-open Discounts and Apply Code After Redeem: Yes

This gives customers a clear confirmation step before they spend points, then helps them use the discount code after the reward is created.

If your store wants the fastest possible redemption flow, you can set Skip Widget Redeem Reward Confirmation to Yes after testing the experience.

Troubleshooting

The widget is not opening directly to rewards

Check your widget style.

Launch Widget Redeem Section? is for the Pop Up widget style. It does not force the Modern widget to open a specific section from a URL.

Customers still need to confirm a reward

In Settings > Account Settings > Widget, set Skip Widget Redeem Reward Confirmation to Yes and save your settings.

Then refresh the storefront and test with a customer account that has enough points for a reward.

The discount code was created but did not apply to the cart

The automatic apply step depends on Shopify accepting Glow's /discount/{code} request for the current cart/session.

If the apply step fails, the code should still appear in the widget's Discounts tab so the customer can copy it manually.
