Add Glow to Shopify POS when you want staff to look up a customer's points and help them redeem rewards during an in-person sale.

Glow's POS tile can show the selected customer's point balance, available rewards, and active discount codes. Staff can redeem an eligible reward and apply the resulting discount to the POS cart before checkout.

Before you start

  • Make sure Glow is installed on the same Shopify store you use for POS.

  • Make sure Glow is active. The Main App Toggle must be on for POS redemption to work.

  • Make sure your POS staff can add app tiles in Shopify POS.

  • Use a test customer first, especially if you are training staff or testing a new reward.

Add the Glow tile in Shopify POS

In the Shopify POS app:

  1. Tap Add tile.

  2. Choose App.

  3. Choose Glow: Loyalty Points & Rewards.

  4. Select Glow POS UI extension.

  5. Tap Add.

After the tile is added, the Glow tile appears on the Shopify POS home screen.

You can also add the Glow app website tile if you want staff to open the Glow admin area from POS. That tile is optional and is separate from the POS reward-redemption tile.

Redeem a reward in Shopify POS

  1. Add products to the POS cart.

  2. Add or select the Shopify customer for the sale.

  3. Tap the Glow tile.

  4. Confirm the customer and point balance.

  5. Open Rewards and choose an available reward.

  6. Tap Redeem.

  7. Open Discounts in the Glow POS flow and apply the new discount to the cart.

  8. Complete checkout in Shopify POS.

If the customer changes their mind or the sale is not completed, the unused discount code can still appear for that customer later, as long as it has not been disabled or fully used.

Which rewards can appear in POS?

POS can show enabled rewards that the selected customer is eligible to redeem. Glow checks the customer's point balance, VIP tier, reward usage rules, member limit, and exclusion status before redemption.

Rewards set to POS Only are available for POS redemption without showing as regular online-store rewards.

Free-shipping rewards are not shown in Glow POS. Product rewards can appear in POS when the reward is connected to a valid Shopify product or variant.

Common issues

The Glow tile is missing

Open Shopify POS and add the tile again from Add tile > App > Glow: Loyalty Points & Rewards > Glow POS UI extension.

If Glow does not appear in the POS app list, confirm Glow is installed on the same Shopify store and that your POS app is signed in to that store.

The customer does not load

Select the customer in Shopify POS before opening the Glow tile. Glow's POS UI uses the selected Shopify customer to find the matching Glow member.

If the customer was only created manually in Glow and is not linked to a Shopify customer profile, create or select the matching Shopify customer in POS first.

A reward is missing

Check the reward in Glow:

  • The reward must be enabled or set to POS Only.

  • The customer must have enough points.

  • VIP restrictions must match the customer.

  • One-time reward rules may hide rewards the customer has already used.

  • Free-shipping rewards are not shown in POS.

  • Product rewards need a valid Shopify product or variant.

Staff cannot redeem rewards

Confirm Glow is active and that the account has not exceeded its active-member limit.

Also check the member record in Glow. Customers who are excluded from the loyalty program cannot redeem rewards.

The discount was redeemed but not applied to the cart

After redeeming, open Discounts in the Glow POS flow and apply the discount before completing checkout.

If the code was created but the sale was abandoned, it may still be available for that customer later until it is used, disabled, or reaches its usage limit.

The customer also wants to use rewards online

Use the same Shopify customer profile and email address for in-store and online activity whenever possible. This helps Glow keep the customer's points, rewards, discounts, and order history connected.
