How do I track referral performance?

Use Analytics > Referral Stats to see whether Glow is recording referred customers and whether referral points are being awarded.

Use Analytics > Referral Stats to see whether Glow is recording referred customers and whether referral points are being awarded.

The Referral Stats page is best for checking Glow referral activity. It is not a full revenue attribution report, so use Shopify or your analytics tools when you need sales, sessions, or campaign revenue data.

Before you start

Make sure your referral program is set up and enabled in Rewards > Referral Program.

Glow can track a referral when the new customer is connected to a Glow referral code. If someone hears about your store from a friend but does not use a Glow referral link or referral code, that customer may not appear as a referral in Glow.

If your referral program rewards the first purchase instead of signup, referral point activity will not appear until the referred customer places the qualifying order and Glow processes it.

Open Referral Stats

In Glow, go to Analytics > Referral Stats.

Use this page to review:

  • The recent referral chart.

  • The newest referred customers.

  • Recent referral-related point activity.

  • A referral CSV export for the last 7, 30, or 90 days.

Read the referral chart

The Recent Referrals chart shows referred customer records created over the recent chart period.

Use it to answer questions like:

  • Are new referred customers being recorded?

  • Did referral activity increase after a campaign, email, or social post?

  • Did referrals stop appearing after a settings or storefront change?

Review recent referred customers

The Recent Referrals section shows the newest referred customers Glow has recorded.

Each row can show the customer, their VIP tier or multiplier when available, the Referred By code, their point balance, and the date the member record was created.

Click View all members when you want to search the full member list or open a specific customer record.

Review referral point activity

The Recent Referral Activity section shows recent referral-related point events, such as points awarded to the referring customer or the referred customer.

If referred customers appear but referral activity is empty, check your referral setup:

  • Signup referral points may be set to 0.

  • The program may be set to reward the first purchase instead of signup.

  • The referred customer may not have placed the qualifying order yet.

  • One of the customers may be excluded from the loyalty program.

Click View all activity to review the broader points activity log.

Export referral data

Use the export control near the top right of the page when you need a CSV.

  1. Choose last 7 days, last 30 days, or last 90 days.

  2. Click Export.

  3. Open the downloaded CSV.

The referral export includes referred customer records created in the selected time period. The CSV includes columns for name, email, VIP tier, multiplier, referred-by code, point balance, and created date in UTC.

Common issues

Referral Stats is empty

Check that the referral program is enabled and that your test customer used a Glow referral link.

Also check whether the referred customer was created outside the recent chart or export window.

A referred customer appears, but no points were awarded

Open Rewards > Referral Program and check when rewards are issued.

If rewards are issued on first purchase, the customer needs to place the qualifying order before referral points appear.

Also confirm that the point amounts are greater than 0 and that neither customer is excluded from the loyalty program.

The CSV looks incomplete

Try a wider range, such as last 90 days.

The referral export is based on referred customer records created during the selected period, not every referral-related point event ever recorded.

The numbers do not match Shopify revenue reports

Referral Stats tracks Glow referral records and referral point activity. It does not measure every visit, conversion, or order revenue from referral traffic.

For revenue, compare Glow referral records with Shopify orders or your marketing analytics.
