You can limit a Glow reward so the discount only works for certain orders, products, or collections.
Use this when you want to encourage a specific kind of purchase, such as:
Giving
$10 offonly when an order subtotal is at least$75.Giving a discount only on one product.
Giving a discount only on products in a specific Shopify collection.
These settings affect the discount code Glow creates when a customer redeems points. Shopify checks the cart at checkout and applies the discount only when the cart matches the restriction.
Before you start
Before you edit the reward, decide:
Which reward you want to restrict.
Whether the reward should apply to all orders, orders above a minimum subtotal, one product, or one collection.
Which Shopify product or collection should be selected, if you are using a product or collection restriction.
Whether the reward should also be limited by VIP tier, usage limits, or enabled status.
Reward restrictions are separate from VIP tier and usage settings. Use VIP Tier if only certain customers should be able to redeem the reward. Use How many times can the reward be redeemed? and Once redeemed, how many times can the customer use the discount? to control reward and discount usage.
Which reward types can use these restrictions?
Fixed amount, percentage, and flexible rewards can use all four Discount Applies to options:
All Orders
Order above a minimum amount
Single Product
Single Collection
Free shipping rewards can apply to all orders or orders above a minimum amount. Product and collection restrictions are not shown for free shipping rewards.
Automatic product rewards do not use Discount Applies to. For automatic product rewards, choose the product or variant in the Automatic Order section instead.
Limit a reward to orders above a minimum amount
From your Glow dashboard, go to Rewards > Manage Rewards, then create or edit a reward.
Set the reward name, reward type, point cost, and reward value.
In Discount Applies to, choose Order above a minimum amount.
Enter the minimum order amount in Minimum Amount of Order.
When a customer redeems this reward, Glow creates a Shopify discount code with a minimum subtotal requirement. The customer can use the code only when the order meets that minimum.
Limit a reward to one product
Create or edit a fixed amount, percentage, or flexible reward.
In Discount Applies to, choose Single Product.
Search for the Shopify product, then select it from the results.
When a customer redeems this reward, Glow creates a Shopify discount code that is tied to the selected product.
The customer can have other items in the cart, but the reward discount only applies to the selected product.
Limit a reward to one collection
Create or edit a fixed amount, percentage, or flexible reward.
In Discount Applies to, choose Single Collection.
Search for the Shopify collection, then select it from the results.
When a customer redeems this reward, Glow creates a Shopify discount code that applies to products in the selected collection.
The customer can have other items in the cart, but the reward discount only applies to eligible products in that collection.
Save and test the reward
Select Save Reward.
Then test the reward with a customer who has enough points to redeem it.
For a minimum order reward:
Redeem the reward with a test customer.
Add products to the cart below the minimum amount and confirm the discount does not apply.
Add enough products to meet the minimum amount and confirm the discount applies.
For a single product reward:
Redeem the reward with a test customer.
Add the selected product to the cart and confirm the discount applies.
Add a different product to the cart and confirm the discount does not apply to that product.
For a single collection reward:
Redeem the reward with a test customer.
Add a product from the selected collection and confirm the discount applies.
Add a product outside the selected collection and confirm the discount does not apply to that product.
Important note about existing discount codes
Glow uses the reward settings when a customer redeems points and Glow creates the Shopify discount code.
If you edit a reward later, new discount codes will use the updated reward settings. Discount codes that customers already redeemed may still have the settings they were created with in Shopify.
If a customer already has a code and that specific code needs to change, check the discount code in Shopify.
Troubleshooting
The reward is visible to a customer who does not have the right cart
That can be normal.
Glow checks whether the customer can redeem the reward based on points, account status, VIP tier, enabled status, and usage rules. Shopify checks the cart restriction when the customer applies the discount at checkout.
If you want only certain customers to redeem the reward, use VIP Tier or disable the reward until it is ready.
The discount code does not work at checkout
Check the cart against the reward restriction.
For minimum order rewards, make sure the order subtotal meets the minimum amount.
For product or collection rewards, make sure the cart contains the selected product or a product from the selected collection.
Also check whether the discount has usage limits or combination settings that prevent it from being used with other discounts.
I do not see product or collection options for free shipping
Free shipping rewards can apply to all orders or to orders above a minimum amount.
If you want to discount one product or one collection, create a fixed amount, percentage, or flexible reward instead.
I selected the wrong product or collection
Edit the reward, choose the correct option under Discount Applies to, select the correct product or collection, then save the reward.
New discount codes created after the change will use the updated settings.
