Glow lets customers redeem loyalty points for rewards in your Shopify store.
The most common rewards are discount codes, free shipping, and free products. You can also create flexible rewards where customers choose how many points to redeem.
Reward types
You can create these reward types from Rewards > Manage Rewards.
Fixed amount off
Use Fixed Amount Off when you want to give customers a specific dollar amount off an order or eligible product.
For example, a customer might redeem 1,500 points for $15 off.
Percentage off
Use Percentage Off when you want to give customers a percentage discount.
For example, a customer might redeem 1,200 points for 15% off.
Free shipping
Use Free Shipping when you want customers to redeem points for a shipping discount.
Free shipping rewards can apply to all orders or only to orders above a minimum amount.
Flexible amount
Use Flexible Amount when you want customers to choose how many points to redeem.
Instead of creating one fixed discount value, you set the points-to-currency rate. For example, you might set 100 points = $1. A customer with enough points can then choose a discount amount within the limits you set.
Automatic product order
Use Automatic Product Order when you want customers to redeem points for a product.
When the reward is redeemed, Glow creates a Shopify order for the selected product or variant instead of creating a normal discount code.
How reward cost and value work
Each reward has a cost and, for most reward types, a value.
Reward cost is how many points the customer needs to redeem the reward.
Reward value is how much the customer receives when they use the reward, such as $10 off, 15% off, or free shipping.
Automatic product rewards do not use a normal discount value because the reward is the selected product itself.
Flexible rewards use a redemption rate instead of one fixed point cost. The customer chooses how many points to redeem, and Glow calculates the discount amount from the rate you set.
Ways to control how rewards can be used
Rewards can be simple, or they can be limited to fit your loyalty strategy.
You can control:
Whether the reward is available to all customers or only a VIP tier.
How many times the reward can be redeemed.
How many times the generated discount code can be used.
Whether the discount works for one-time purchases only or for subscriptions and one-time purchases.
Whether the discount can combine with other order, product, or shipping discounts.
Whether the discount applies to all orders, orders above a minimum amount, one product, or one collection.
Whether the reward is enabled, disabled, or available only for Shopify POS.
What happens when a customer redeems a reward?
For fixed amount, percentage, free shipping, and flexible rewards, Glow creates a Shopify discount code when the customer redeems points.
The customer can copy the discount code or apply it to the cart, depending on your widget settings.
For automatic product rewards, Glow creates a Shopify order for the selected product or variant.
Which reward type should I choose?
Choose Fixed Amount Off for simple rewards like $5 off, $10 off, or $20 off.
Choose Percentage Off when you want the reward value to scale with the order or product price.
Choose Free Shipping when shipping cost is a strong reason customers hesitate to buy.
Choose Flexible Amount when you want customers to spend any amount of points instead of choosing from preset coupons.
Choose Automatic Product Order when you want points to unlock a free product without requiring the customer to enter a discount code at checkout.
Tips
Start with a small number of easy-to-understand rewards.
For many stores, a simple reward ladder works well:
A small fixed discount at a lower point cost.
A larger fixed or percentage discount at a higher point cost.
A free shipping reward.
A product reward if you have a popular low-cost item or sample.
After the basics are working, you can add flexible rewards, VIP-only rewards, product-specific rewards, or collection-specific rewards.
Before launching a new reward, test it with a customer who has enough points. Redeem the reward, apply the code or claim the product, and confirm the checkout or order behaves the way you expect.
