Glow can award points for customer moments that are not tied to a purchase:
Signup points when a customer joins your loyalty program.
Birthday points each year when an eligible customer has a saved birthday.
Anniversary points each year on the date the customer joined your program.
These rewards are optional. Use them when they fit your loyalty budget and the customer behavior you want to encourage.
Set these points during setup
If you selected signup, birthday, or anniversary earning in the setup wizard, Glow asks for those point values on the Reward Your Customers step.
Enter the number of points you want customers to receive for each enabled moment, then continue through the wizard.
Change these points later
You can also change these settings after launch.
To update them:
In Glow, open Settings > Account Settings.
Select the Rewards tab.
Under Reward Types, check the earning methods you want to offer.
Set the point value for each enabled method.
Click Save Settings.
If you uncheck a reward type, customers will not earn points from that method.
What each setting does
Signup points
Signup points are awarded when Glow creates or connects a loyalty member and Signup earning is enabled.
Glow only awards signup points once per member. If a member already has a signup point entry, Glow will not award signup points again.
Birthday points
Birthday points are awarded to eligible customers when:
Celebrate a Birthday is enabled.
The customer has a birthday saved in Glow.
The customer has not already received the birthday award for the current yearly cycle.
The customer is not excluded from the loyalty program.
Customers can save their birthday from the loyalty widget when birthday rewards are enabled.
If a customer has not saved a birthday, Glow does not know when to award birthday points.
You can also edit a member's birthday from their member profile in Glow when needed.
Anniversary points
Anniversary points are awarded each year on the date the customer joined your loyalty program.
Customers do not need to enter an anniversary date. Glow uses the member's join date.
Should I use all three?
Many stores start with signup points and birthday points, then add anniversary points later.
Use smaller point amounts if the reward happens for many customers at once. For example, a large signup bonus can be great for encouraging account creation, but it can also create a lot of points quickly if your store gets many new members.
A simple starting approach is:
Make Signup points enough to make joining feel worthwhile.
Make Birthday points feel like a small thank-you.
Make Anniversary points similar to birthday points, or leave them off until your program has more members.
Optional birthday year setting
Glow also has an Ask for Birth Year widget setting.
If this is set to Yes, customers are asked for their birth year when they save a birthday. This does not change when birthday points are awarded.
Check your setup
Before launch:
Confirm the reward types you want are checked in Settings > Account Settings > Rewards.
Confirm each enabled method has the right point value.
Open your storefront widget and check that customer-facing earning methods look correct.
For birthday rewards, confirm customers have a way to save their birthday.
Review a test member's point history after signup or after a manual birthday update if you are testing with support.
Troubleshooting
A customer did not receive signup points
Check whether Signup was enabled when the customer joined.
Glow only awards signup points once per member. If the customer already received signup points before, changing the signup value later will not award another signup bonus automatically.
A customer did not receive birthday points
Check whether the customer has a birthday saved in Glow.
Then confirm Celebrate a Birthday is enabled and the customer is not excluded from the loyalty program.
Birthday awards run on Glow's scheduled award process. They are not awarded immediately when you turn the setting on unless the customer is eligible during the scheduled check.
Anniversary points did not appear for a new customer
Anniversary points are for the customer's yearly join-date anniversary, not the same day they first joined.
New members should not receive anniversary points immediately just because anniversary earning is enabled.
The widget does not show an earning method
Check whether that reward type is enabled in Settings > Account Settings > Rewards.
Some methods may appear differently for guests and signed-in customers. For example, birthday rewards depend on customer birthday data, while anniversary points are based on the member's join date.
