A fixed amount discount reward lets customers exchange points for a discount worth a specific amount of money.
For example, you can create a reward where customers spend 1,500 points to get $15 off an order.
Use this reward type when you want the discount value to stay the same every time the reward is redeemed.
Before you start
Before you create the reward, decide:
How many points the reward should cost.
How much the discount should be worth.
Whether the discount should apply to all orders or only certain orders.
Whether the generated discount code can combine with other discounts.
The point cost and discount value are different settings. The point cost is what the customer spends. The reward value is the amount the customer gets off their order.
Create the reward
From your Glow dashboard, go to Rewards > Manage Rewards, then select Add Reward.
Give the reward a clear customer-facing name. Customers will see this name when they redeem their points.
In Reward Type, choose Fixed Amount Off.
Set the point cost and discount value
Enter the point cost in How many points does this reward cost?
Then enter the discount amount in Reward Value.
For example, to let customers spend 1,500 points for $15 off:
How many points does this reward cost?
1500Reward Value
15
Glow may also show Total spent to qualify for reward under the point cost. This is an estimate based on your store's points-per-purchase earning rule. It is not the reward value.
Choose where the discount applies
Use Discount Applies to to decide which orders can use the discount code created by this reward.
You can choose:
All Orders
Order above a minimum amount
Single Product
Single Collection
If you choose Order above a minimum amount, enter the minimum order amount.
For example, if you set the minimum to 50, customers can only use the discount code on orders that meet the minimum order amount.
If you choose Single Product or Single Collection, Glow will ask you to select the product or collection.
Review reward usage settings
The reward usage settings control how often customers can redeem the reward and how often the generated discount code can be used.
Use How many times can the reward be redeemed? to control how often customers can exchange points for this reward.
You can choose:
Unlimited: customers can redeem the reward again when they have enough points.
Once per customer: each customer can redeem the reward once.
Once total: the reward can only be redeemed once across the store.
Use Once redeemed, how many times can the customer use the discount? to control how many times the generated discount code can be used.
For most rewards, 1 is the safest setting because the discount code can only be used once.
Review purchase type, combinations, and prefix
Use Purchase Type to choose whether the discount applies to one-time purchases only or both subscription and one-time purchases.
Subscription discounts require a subscription app and are only relevant if your store sells subscriptions.
Use Discount Combinations to decide whether discount codes created from this reward can combine with Shopify order, product, or shipping discounts.
Use Discount Code Prefix if you want generated codes to start with a specific prefix. This can make reward codes easier to recognize later.
For example, a prefix like FIXED15- makes it clear that the code came from your $15 fixed amount reward.
Save the reward
Set Enabled? to Enabled, then select Save Reward.
After saving, Glow sends you back to the Manage Rewards page. The reward appears in your rewards list with the type Fixed.
The Value column shows the discount amount. The Cost column shows how many points the customer needs to redeem the reward.
How customers redeem a fixed amount reward
When a customer has enough points, they can redeem the reward in the customer-facing rewards widget.
Glow creates a discount code for the fixed amount you set and subtracts the reward's point cost from the customer's balance.
For example, if the reward costs 1,500 points and gives $15 off, Glow subtracts 1,500 points and creates a $15 discount code.
Test the reward
Before relying on a new reward in your live loyalty program, test it with a customer who has enough points.
Create or choose a test customer.
Make sure the customer has enough points for the reward.
Open the customer-facing rewards widget.
Redeem the reward.
Confirm the discount code is created.
Confirm the discount value is correct at checkout.
Confirm the customer's points were deducted.
If the reward has a minimum order amount, product restriction, collection restriction, purchase type setting, or combination setting, test that behavior at checkout too.
Troubleshooting
The reward does not show for a customer
Make sure the reward is enabled and the customer has enough points to redeem it.
Also check whether the reward is limited to a VIP tier, product, collection, or minimum order amount.
The discount amount is not what I expected
Check Reward Value. For a fixed amount reward, Reward Value is the currency amount the customer gets off the order.
The point cost only controls how many points the customer spends.
The customer cannot use the discount code at checkout
Check the reward's order restrictions, purchase type, and discount combination settings.
If the reward requires a minimum order amount, make sure the checkout meets that minimum.
Customers can redeem the reward more often than expected
Review How many times can the reward be redeemed?
If each customer should only redeem the reward once, choose Once per customer.
