How to configure points for specific collections

You can override points for specific collections. This includes setting bonuses or excluding collections form earning points altogether

This feature helps you reward strategic buying behavior — for example, giving extra points for premium collections, or excluding discounted collections from earning rewards.

How It Works

You can configure collection-specific rules under:

Rewards → Collections

Here you can set:

  • A fixed number of bonus points per dollar spent, or

  • An override value that replaces the normal points earned, or

  • An exclude rule to block points from a collection.

Example: Bonus Points

Let’s say your standard earning rate is 10 points per dollar.
You could create a rule that adds 10 bonus points for purchases in a “Featured” collection — meaning those items now earn 20 points per dollar (2× normal).

Adding a Bonus Rule

  1. Go to Rewards → Collection Bonus.

  2. Click Add Collection.

  3. Select your collection.

  4. Enter how many bonus Glow Bucks to add.

  5. Choose Bonus as the award mode.

  6. Click Add Collection.

Example: Excluding or Overriding Points

You can also prevent certain products from earning points — useful for sale items, gift cards, or low-margin products.

To do this:

  1. Add a new collection.

  2. Choose Override as the award mode.

  3. Set Glow Bucks to 0.

This tells Glow to replace the normal point value and award zero points for that collection.

Tips and Tricks

  • Shopify lets you assign products to multiple collections, and Glow will apply the most specific rule that matches.

  • Combine bonuses and overrides across collections to fine-tune your loyalty strategy — for instance, double points on “New Arrivals,” but none on “Sale” items.

  • You can use these controls to encourage spending where it matters most and protect profit margins where necessary.
