How do I add or remove points for a customer?

Use manual point adjustments when you need to correct a member's balance, award points for an offline purchase, or remove points after a support issue. Glow updates the member's point balance as soon as you save the adjustment.

Use manual point adjustments when you need to correct a member's balance, award points for an offline purchase, or remove points after a support issue. Glow updates the member's point balance as soon as you save the adjustment.

Before you start

  • Use a positive number to add points.

  • Use a negative number to remove points.

  • Glow will not let you remove more points than the member currently has.

  • Adding points increases the member's current point balance and lifetime points.

  • Removing points lowers the member's current point balance, but it does not lower lifetime points.

  • If the member is excluded from the loyalty program, remove the exclusion before adjusting points.

  • If you check Notify Customer?, Glow sends the member a manual points notification email.

Open the member record

  1. In Glow, go to Members.

  2. Search by name, email, phone number, or tier if needed.

  3. Click the member you want to update.

Open the adjustment window

On the member record, click Adjust points in the Recent Activity area.

The button may use your custom point name. For example, if your program calls points "Stars," the button may say Adjust Stars.

Enter the adjustment

  1. Enter the number of points to add or remove.

  2. Add an optional description so your team can remember why the change was made.

  3. Review New Total to confirm the member's balance after the adjustment.

  4. Optional: check Notify Customer? if the member should receive an email.

  5. Click Adjust points.

To add 500 points, enter:

To remove 500 points, enter:

-500

How to confirm the adjustment worked

After you save:

  1. The member's current point balance updates on the member record.

  2. The adjustment appears in the member's recent activity.

  3. Positive adjustments are added to lifetime points. Negative adjustments are not subtracted from lifetime points.

Common issues

I cannot subtract as many points as I entered

The member's balance cannot go below 0. Enter a smaller negative number or confirm the member's current balance first.

Glow says the member is excluded from the loyalty program

Excluded members cannot receive manual point adjustments. On the member record, click Edit Glow Customer Details, remove the loyalty exclusion, save, and then adjust points.

I need to update points for many members

Use a bulk import or bulk action instead of editing each member one at a time.

I need to adjust points automatically from another system

Use Glow's API for developer-driven point adjustments, and use webhooks if another system needs to be notified when manual adjustments happen.
