Welcome to Glow Loyalty. This guide walks through the main pieces of a loyalty, rewards, and referral program for your Shopify store.

Glow helps you reward customers with points, give customers rewards they can redeem, and encourage referrals from happy customers. Start with a simple program, test the customer experience, then add more advanced earning rules, rewards, VIP tiers, emails, integrations, and storefront placements as you need them.

What you can set up in Glow

With Glow, you can:

  • Award points for purchases, signup, birthdays, anniversaries, referrals, and supported integration or custom actions.

  • Create rewards such as fixed discounts, percentage discounts, free shipping, free product orders, and flexible amount rewards.

  • Import existing customers into your loyalty program.

  • Show a customer-facing loyalty widget on your Shopify storefront.

  • Add embedded Glow blocks to Shopify surfaces such as product pages, checkout, customer accounts, order details, and Shopify Admin.

  • Create custom order rules, collection bonuses, referral programs, VIP tiers, email notifications, and integrations.

1. Complete the setup wizard

The setup wizard is the best place to start. It helps you choose how customers earn points, name your points, pick your widget colors, set purchase points, and set starting values for signup, birthday, and anniversary points.

In Step 1/5, choose the earning methods you want to offer at launch:

  • Signup

  • Place an Order

  • Celebrate a Birthday

  • Have an Anniversary

  • Refer Friends

You do not need to turn on every earning method right away. Many stores start with purchase points and one simple milestone, then add more options after testing.

2. Confirm where customers will see Glow

Before you announce your loyalty program, confirm that Glow is enabled and visible where customers need it.

From the Glow Home dashboard, use the setup links to open the getting started guide and Shopify embedded content shortcuts. Some shortcuts open Glow pages, and others open Shopify so you can enable, add, save, or pin the right block.

The customer-facing widget usually also needs the Glow app embed enabled in your Shopify theme. If the widget is not showing, check the app embed, widget visibility settings, customer login state, and the page you are testing.

3. Set points for purchases and special rules

Glow can award points based on the amount customers spend. In the wizard and account settings, you can decide how many points customers earn for each 1 unit of your Shopify store currency, and whether shipping and tax should count toward purchase points.

After the basic purchase rule is in place, use advanced rules when you need more control.

Order rules can change or prevent points when an order matches specific conditions, such as a discount-code prefix or other order criteria.

Collection bonuses can award extra points, or override awarded points, when customers buy products from a specific Shopify collection.

4. Create rewards customers can redeem

After customers can earn points, create rewards so they have a clear reason to join and keep earning.

Glow supports these reward types:

  • Fixed Amount Off

  • Percentage Off

  • Free Shipping

  • Automatic Product Order

  • Flexible Amount

For each reward, choose the cost or redemption rules, the reward value, any product or collection restrictions, discount-code settings, usage limits, combination settings, VIP tier availability, and whether the reward is enabled.

Start with one or two simple rewards that are easy to test. For example, many merchants launch with a fixed discount and free shipping, then add product rewards or flexible rewards once the program is running smoothly.

5. Set up referrals when you are ready

Glow's referral program gives each member a referral link they can share with friends and family. You can reward the existing member, the new member, or both.

On the referral setup page, choose whether the program is enabled, when referral rewards should be issued, and how many points each person should receive.

Referral rewards can be issued when a new customer signs up, when a new customer makes their first purchase, or on repeating purchase-based referral rules. If you use first-purchase referral rewards, Glow can also award a selected discount reward to the referrer when the referred customer qualifies.

6. Review optional settings before launch

Once points, rewards, and referrals are in place, review the optional areas that matter for your store.

VIP multipliers let you award more or fewer points for selected earning moments. The default multiplier applies to new customers, and customer or tier multipliers can change how many points are awarded.

VIP tiers let you segment customers by lifetime points. Each tier can have a name, minimum lifetime points requirement, multiplier, and color.

Email templates help customers receive loyalty, rewards, and referral notifications. Some email customization options are limited by plan.

Integrations can award points or send loyalty events through connected tools, depending on the integration you configure.

Current integration areas include PayWhirl, Mailchimp, Judge.me, Stripe, Klaviyo, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and X. Some integrations and advanced settings require the right Glow plan or connected third-party account.

Before you launch

Before announcing your program to customers, test the full path:

  1. Confirm Glow is installed and the loyalty program is enabled.

  2. Confirm the Glow app embed or widget placement is enabled on your active Shopify theme.

  3. Open your storefront as a customer and confirm the widget or embedded blocks appear where expected.

  4. Confirm a customer can earn points from the earning methods you plan to launch.

  5. Redeem a test reward and confirm the discount or product reward behaves correctly.

  6. Test checkout with a redeemed discount code.

  7. If you are launching referrals, test a referral link with the reward timing you selected.

  8. Review the test customer's point activity in Glow.
