Yes. Glow rewards can create discount codes for subscription purchases when the reward is configured to allow subscriptions and your Shopify store uses a compatible subscription app.
You can also keep reward discounts limited to one-time purchases only.
Choose the reward's purchase type
Go to Rewards > Manage Rewards, then open the reward you want to edit.
Find Discount Purchase Type.
Use Subscription and One-time when customers should be able to use discount codes from this reward on subscription purchases and one-time purchases.
Use Only One-time Purchases when customers should only be able to use the reward code on one-time purchases.
What happens when a customer redeems the reward?
When the customer redeems points, Glow creates a Shopify discount code using the reward's current purchase type setting.
If the reward is set to Subscription and One-time, Glow asks Shopify to create the code with subscription and one-time purchase support.
If Shopify does not allow subscription discount fields for the store, Glow retries the code creation without those subscription-specific fields so the reward can still be redeemed.
Important subscription notes
A subscription discount usually applies to one subscription payment. It is not an ongoing loyalty discount for every future renewal.
If you use PayWhirl, you may be able to apply a discount to an existing subscription from the subscription management screen.
Subscription discount behavior can depend on your subscription app and Shopify's current subscription discount support. Test the reward with a subscription product before promoting it to customers.
When should I allow subscription discounts?
Allow subscription discounts when you want loyalty points to encourage subscription signups or make a first subscription order more appealing.
Use one-time-only discounts when you want loyalty rewards to apply only to regular purchases and protect recurring subscription revenue.
Test a subscription reward
Before launching the reward:
Open the reward in Glow.
Set Discount Purchase Type to Subscription and One-time.
Save the reward.
Redeem the reward as a test customer.
Add a subscription product to the cart.
Apply the discount code at checkout.
Confirm the code applies the way you expect.
Also test a one-time purchase if the same reward should work for both purchase types.
Troubleshooting
The code works on a one-time product but not a subscription product
Open the reward in Glow and check Discount Purchase Type.
If the reward is set to Only One-time Purchases, change it to Subscription and One-time for future codes.
If the customer already redeemed the code, open that existing code in Shopify and review the discount's purchase-type settings there.
The reward is set to subscriptions, but the code still does not apply
Confirm your Shopify store uses a compatible subscription app and that the cart contains a subscription product.
If Shopify did not allow subscription discount fields when the code was created, Glow may have created the code without subscription support.
Create a fresh test code after confirming subscription support.
I want the discount to apply to every renewal
Glow reward discount codes are intended for the redemption checkout, not as automatic ongoing renewal discounts.
If you use PayWhirl or another subscription app, check whether that app supports adding an ongoing discount directly to the subscription.
