Use the VIP Tier setting on a reward when you want that reward to appear only for customers in one VIP tier.
This controls reward availability in Glow's normal customer-facing reward list. Customers who are not in the selected tier should not see that tier-only reward in the widget or POS reward list.
Before you start
Create the VIP tier first. In Glow, go to Rewards > VIP Tiers and make sure the tier exists.
Each reward can be set to either All Customers or one specific VIP tier. If you want different tiers to receive different rewards, create or edit a separate reward for each tier.
Open the reward
In Glow, go to Rewards > Manage Rewards.
Open an existing reward, or click Add Reward to create a new one.
Set up the reward details as usual, including the reward name, cost, value, usage settings, discount combinations, and whether the reward is enabled.
Choose the VIP tier
Find the VIP Tier section.
Choose one of these options:
Setting | What it does |
All Customers | Any eligible customer can see the reward. |
A specific VIP tier | Only customers in that VIP tier see the reward in Glow's normal reward list. |
Click Save Reward when you are done.
What counts as being in the tier?
Glow checks the customer's current VIP tier.
A customer can be in a VIP tier because:
Their lifetime points meet the tier's minimum point threshold.
You manually assigned a VIP tier on the member profile.
If a customer is not in the selected tier, Glow leaves that reward out of their normal reward list.
How to test it
Use two test members if possible:
One member who is in the selected VIP tier.
One member who is not in that tier.
Open the customer-facing widget while signed in as each customer.
The tier member should see the reward if the reward is enabled and all other reward rules allow it.
The non-tier member should not see the tier-only reward in the normal reward list.
Troubleshooting
Everyone can still see the reward
Open the reward and check VIP Tier. If it is set to All Customers, the reward is not limited by tier.
Also check that you saved the reward after changing the VIP tier.
The right customer cannot see the reward
Check the customer's member profile and confirm they are actually in the VIP tier you selected.
Also check these reward settings:
Enabled? is set to Enabled or POS Only, depending on where the reward should appear.
The reward has not reached its usage limit.
The customer has enough points or meets the flexible reward requirements.
The customer is not excluded from the loyalty program.
I need the reward for more than one VIP tier
The reward editor lets you choose one VIP tier per reward. To offer similar rewards to multiple tiers, create separate rewards for each tier, or leave the reward set to All Customers.
A custom integration is redeeming rewards by ID
Test custom redemption flows carefully. The VIP Tier setting is used when Glow builds the normal reward list for customers. If you have a custom integration that calls a redemption endpoint directly with a reward ID, contact support so we can help verify the safest setup.
