How do I show points earned on product pages?

Use Glow's Product Points Earned app block to show customers how many points they can earn when they buy a product. The block is added in Shopify's theme editor and can be placed near the product form, buy buttons, or another part of your product template.

This is the current recommended setup for product-page points. You do not need to paste a custom Liquid points formula into your theme for the standard product points message.

Before you start

  • Make sure Glow is installed and your loyalty program settings are saved.

  • You need access to your Shopify theme editor.

  • If your store uses more than one product template, add the block to each product template where you want the message to appear.

  • If you use VIP multipliers or collection bonus rules, the number shown can vary by customer, product, collection, or variant.

Add the Product Points Earned block

  1. In Glow, open Home.

  2. Scroll to Embedded Content Blocks.

  3. Click Product Page.

  4. Shopify opens your product template in the theme editor.

  5. In the product template, add or select the Product Points Earned block.

  6. Move the block where you want the points message to appear.

  7. Click Save in Shopify.

Test the product page

After saving the product template, open a live product page on your storefront.

The live product page should show a message like Earn 10 points when you purchase this item.

If your product has variants with different prices, test a few variants too. The points message is calculated from the product and variant information Glow receives from Shopify.

What customers see

Customers see a short earning message on the product page. By default, Glow uses messages like:

  • Earn 10 points when you purchase this item

  • You won't earn any points when you purchase this item

The exact points name follows your Glow settings. For example, if your program calls points "stars," the message uses that name.

Common issues

I added the block, but it only shows on some products

Check which Shopify product template is assigned to the product you are viewing. Adding the Product Points Earned block to one product template does not automatically add it to every alternate product template.

The Shopify theme editor shows preview or sample data

The theme editor may show a preview-mode message or sample points while you are editing. Save the template, then test on a live product page before deciding the block is broken.

The points amount is not what I expected

The Product Points Earned block uses your Glow earning setup. Review settings that can affect order points, such as:

  • Base order points.

  • Collection bonus or replacement rules.

  • VIP multipliers for logged-in customers.

  • Settings that make this product calculate to zero points.

The block says customers will not earn points

The block is rendering, but the current earning setup calculates zero points for that product or customer. Review your base order points, collection rules, and VIP multiplier setup.

The block is missing from the product page

Open the product template in Shopify again and confirm that Product Points Earned is saved in the template. If the block is saved but still missing from the live product page, see the troubleshooting article below.
