How do I enable the Glow checkout extension?

Use Glow's Shopify checkout app blocks when you want customers to see loyalty information during checkout or after an order is placed.

Use Glow's Shopify checkout app blocks when you want customers to see loyalty information during checkout or after an order is placed.

Depending on the Shopify surface you add, Glow can show points earned on an order, referral link details, available discount codes, and eligible non-product rewards.

Before you start

  • Make sure Glow is installed and active.

  • Make sure you have permission in Shopify to edit checkout, thank-you, and order-status pages.

  • Shopify controls which checkout surfaces are available for your store and plan. If you do not see a surface in Shopify's editor, check your Shopify checkout settings or plan access.

  • Use a test order before announcing checkout loyalty features to customers.

Open the Shopify checkout editor from Glow

In Glow, go to Home.

In Embedded Content Blocks, choose the checkout surface you want to set up:

  • Checkout Summary opens Shopify's checkout editor for checkout-page app blocks.

  • Thank You Page opens Shopify's checkout editor for the page customers see after an order is placed.

You can also open Shopify admin directly and go to your checkout/customer account editor, but the Glow dashboard buttons are usually the quickest path.

Add the Glow checkout app block in Shopify

In Shopify's editor:

  1. Open the page you want to edit, such as Checkout, Thank you, or Order status.

  2. Open the Apps panel.

  3. Find Glow: Loyalty Points & Rewards.

  4. Add the Checkout UI block to the checkout surface you are editing.

  5. Place the block where you want it to appear.

  6. Preview the page.

  7. Click Save or Publish, depending on the action Shopify shows for your checkout configuration.

If Shopify shows a message about replacing incompatible apps with app blocks, review that message before publishing changes. Shopify controls when a checkout customization needs to be published to become visible to customers.

What customers can see

On a thank-you or order-status page, Glow can show loyalty information related to the completed order, such as points earned and referral-link messaging.

On the checkout summary surface, Glow can show a customer's available discount codes, eligible rewards, point balance, and reward redemption actions.

Product rewards are not shown or redeemed through the checkout app block. Keep product rewards available through the storefront widget, Shopify POS, or another customer flow you have tested.

Test the checkout block

  1. Open Shopify's editor preview and confirm the Glow block appears on the page you edited.

  2. Place a test order as a customer with a known Glow member record.

  3. Confirm the thank-you or order-status page shows the expected loyalty information.

  4. If you added a checkout summary block, test with a customer who has enough points or an active discount code.

  5. In Glow, check the customer's point activity after the order is processed.

Common issues

I do not see the Glow app block

Check that Glow is installed on the same Shopify store and that you are in Shopify's checkout/customer account editor, not the regular theme editor.

Also confirm you have permission to edit checkout and customer account surfaces.

I do not see the checkout page option

Shopify controls which checkout surfaces your store can edit. If checkout-page app blocks are not available, add Glow to the Thank you or Order status page if those surfaces are available, then confirm your Shopify plan and checkout settings.

The block appears in preview but not for customers

Make sure the Shopify editor changes were saved or published. Some checkout configurations require a publish step before app blocks are live.

Also confirm you added the block to the same page your customers are viewing.

A reward appears in the widget but not in checkout

Checkout does not include product rewards. For other reward types, check that the reward is enabled, the customer has enough points, and any reward restrictions are satisfied.

Points do not appear after an order

Wait for Glow to process the Shopify order, then check the customer's point activity. If the order earned 0 points, review your order point settings, order rules, collection bonuses, and unpaid-order behavior.
